Introduction

For decades, Synergy DBL has been used to build robust business applications, many of which remain mission-critical across organizations of all sizes and industries.
On most platforms, DBL applications store data in file-based databases, using Record Management Services (RMS) on OpenVMS systems or the Synergy Data Management System (SDMS) on other platforms. Data is primarily stored in Indexed Sequential Access Method (ISAM) files, which results in excellent performance for the original applications, but the data can be difficult to consume from other systems and applications, creating a barrier to integration.
To address this challenge, Synergex has developed the Streaming Integration Platform—a software environment that enables Synergy DBL applications to inter-operate with modern systems. It does so primarily by replicating the original applications data, in near real-time, to more widely accessible data storage platforms, making integration simpler and more efficient.
